Jamie and Cody

2020 was definitely a year to remember for both the wedding industry and couples planning to get married. Jamie and Cody were set to have a big wedding with family and friends at Stonefields Estate however, with the pandemic in full force, their plans quickly changed. With the help of some wonderful and talented vendors in the Ottawa area, a small wedding was planned and designed within just a few weeks. The photos below captured by Chelsea Mason Photography really outline the details of this small intimate wedding.

Cody, who now plays for the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL, proposed to Jamie on a rainy night in Venice, Italy. Fast forward a year later, they are now happily married with the company of their two French bulldogs, Zeus and Hugo.

It’s important to note that small intimate weddings and elopements can be a great alternative to a big wedding. As this was one of the very first of many small weddings I captured throughout the year, I can honestly say, I have come to appreciate the effort and finer details that go into an intimate wedding like this. When you take away the hundreds of guests that would have been at your wedding, you are left with only your close family members to celebrate your big day. If you’re on the fence about planning a smaller wedding, I’d say go for it! You can always plan another reception celebration with all your friends and family when the world returns to normal.
