MY STYLE AND APPROACH

to filming weddings

My Style

I like to describe my style as simplistic, classy, and authentic. I focus on creating clean and minimalistic captures that are less distractive to the human eye—think of straight lines, clean backgrounds, symmetrical surroundings, and stable movements. These are all things I aim to achieve when capturing my couples.

My filming style is very candid. I like to take in the day as it happens and often at times, you won’t even notice I am there. I capture moments as they unfold and I find this approach allows you to be yourself in the most authentic way.

In terms of my editing style, I explore with both colour and in black and white. Every wedding is unique in its own way so depending on the setting, mood, and personalities, I may chose to explore a different combination of styles. I also enjoy using ambient sounds and personal vows in my films as they help elevate the emotions within. I generally like to slow things down so that you can flashback to these precious moments that you may have missed in real time.

My Approach

I have a very hands-off approach to filming in the sense that I limit the amount of directing that I do on your wedding day. In the years that I have spent filming, I have found myself emotionally connected to the moments that naturally unfold. For example, the emotions that occur during the first look or the connection that you and your partner have when you walk down the aisle—these are the moments I live for. In short, ninety-nine percent of your day is filmed candidly while the remaining one percent is directed. I may ask you to move into the best optimal light or into the shadows, but that’s about it.

And you

Lastly, this is your day. Your wedding film is something you’ll rewatch for the years to come. If there is something you ever so want or need, I am always willing to listen. Customizing your wedding video to fit your personalities and characters will always come first.
